As we shake our heads in disbelief that February is already upon us (seriously, where does the time go?), we can’t help but reflect upon last year’s choices and the changes we’ve made so far in 2014 — especially in the style department. What 2013 trend is it time to ditch, and how can we craft a new look in 2014? We’ve enlisted the help of five fashion gurus to take our style from being so 2013 to totally on trend.

In Part 2 of this series, we chat with Tracy of The Right Shoes and Katie of Pearls & Twirls about their 2014 style resolutions.

Tracy’s sunglasses are currently out of stock, but you can get a similar look with this style!

It’s a new year and time for a new look. What are you going to venture out and add to your wardrobe in 2014?

Tracy: I’m all about quality versus quantity this year.  I’d really love to add a Burberry trench or a great new pair of designer pumps to my wardrobe.

What was your New Year’s resolution and how are you doing on it so far? It’s ok to be honest…

Tracy: I had a couple: expand my horizons by travelling more (I just got a passport and a Europe trip is in the works for the fall!), quality versus quantity (I recently added a pair of Stuart Weitzman 50/50s to my wardrobe and I’m obsessed!), and focusing more on my health (I’ve done a really good job of making time for the gym and cooking at my apartment more, and hopefully this trend continues!).

What are you most looking forward to in 2014?

Tracy: More adventures in the crazy city, how I will continue to develop professionally, and some good adventures ahead!

If you had to choose one quote, lyric, or piece of advice to serve as your inspiration for the year, what would it be?

Tracy: “Do something today that your future self will thank you for.”

What fashion trend will you gladly leave in 2013?

Katie: Honestly, there aren’t ever trends that I just hate. I like to try everything at least once!

It’s a new year and time for a new look. What are you going to venture out and add to your wardrobe in 2014?

Katie: There are actually quite a few pieces that I can’t wait to add to my wardrobe this year! I’ve already purchased a fun, floral bomber jacket and a pair of pointed toe, minimalist Oxfords. But I’m  also on the hunt for an affordable pair of leather joggers!

What was your New Year’s resolution and how are you doing on it so far? It’s ok to be honest…

Katie: My main New Years resolution was to budget better and as far as shopping goes, only buy things that I just LOVE and have to be in my closet. I’ve done quite a bit of trendy Forever 21 shopping so far this year (and for an affordable price, I love everything I’ve bought!) and am planning to save up for bigger “forever pieces” like a new purse or a classic pump. So far, so good!

What are you most looking forward to in 2014?

Katie: I’ve got some big dreams for 2014! I’m looking to make some serious moves in my career and hopefully create my dream job!

If you had to choose one quote, lyric, or piece of advice to serve as your inspiration for the year, what would it be?

Katie: “In the end we only regret the chances we didn’t take.” It’s easy to stay comfortable. This year I plan to step outside my comfort zone and make things happen!
