Hooray Summer! Who doesn’t love enjoying some beach time with nice drinks, great weather and a little TLC from the sun?

Now, who hates being bloated, feeling sluggish, and not knowing what kind of cocktail is best for the beach? I know I do! Therefore I am here to help you banish bloat, feel more awake, stay healthy and enjoy your drinks!

Bloating – We all have been there…pants fit one day, then don’t the next! The culprit is bloating. It’s caused by excess gas in the intestines and causes us to look fuller than normal. Want to beat the bloat? According to Parents.com, you should…

  • -Simply drink more water! This is the best way to reduce bloating. It flushes out your system, moving the gas right along.
  • -Eat more fiber! This prevents constipation which causes, you guessed it, bloating!
  • -Outsmart PMS by loading up on calcium and staying hydrated.
  • -Prepare by taking Gas-X or Beano.
  • -Lastly, exercise! This helps push the gas through your digestive tract faster, relieving bloat.

Feeling Sluggish? – Again, drink more water! Water increases energy and helps the body process fat and flushes waste out of your system! Your body needs to stay hydrated. As much as its repeated, you need to drink eight glasses of water a day! Try this for a week and see how you feel! Other suggestions from ZenHabits.net are:

-Wear bright colors!

-Exercise!

-Get up at the same time every day and go to bed at the same time every day!

-Eat a healthy power snack, berries are great for this!

-Avoid energy drinks and limit caffeine.

-Take a 5-10 minute power nap, sitting in your chair!

Runny Noses – Pump up the Vitamin C, B12 and sleep! Get your rest, drink water and make sure you don’t have allergies! Drop the sniffles stat, see a doctor!

Fun Heart Healthy Cocktails – Who doesn’t love a little pleasant sipping throughout the summer? But limit your quantity. According to WomensHeart.org, moderate alcohol consumption helps protect against heart disease by raising HDL (the good cholesterol) levels and reducing plaque accumulations in your arteries. Alcohol also has a mild anti-coagulating effect, which keeps platelets from clumping together to form clots. Both of these actions can reduce the risk of a heart attack…BUT…If you consume more than three drinks a day, alcohol will then have a toxic effect on your body. One light beer, red wine or a mixed drink with soda water or tonic is best. Avoid mixing drinks with caffeinated beverages like soda and energy drinks. The best mixer if you want a little flavor, cranberry juice.

Well ladies and gents, drink up, be merry and enjoy your summer…But don’t forget to KEEP IT HEALTHY!
