Maybe it’s all the flannel shirts, but we can’t think of a better time to explore seasonal beers than fall. From pumpkin brews to hoppy IPAs, there’s a fall beer out there for everyone. Here are 10 (from all over the U.S.) that we just can’t get enough of:
Hoppy (ha!) reading, sipping, and pouring…
1. Beer: Pumpkin Ale
Brewery: Schlafly — St. Louis, MI
Fall without pumpkin beer just wouldn’t be right. Schlafly’s brew of the season is like pumpkin pie in liquid form. Sweet, spicy, yet totally refreshing, this pumpkin ale won’t disappoint.
2. Beer: Pecan Harvest Ale
Brewery: Abita — Covington, LA
Enjoy this seasonal favorite brewed with real Louisiana pecans. It doesn’t get much more authentic than that. Crack one open with red meat, seafood, or … you guessed it … nuts!
3. Beer: Broo Doo Harvest Ale
Brewery: Three Floyds — Munster, IN
We’ll drink pretty much anything Three Floyds creates, including this American IPA perfect for chilly fall weather. Brewed with wet hops, Broo Doo is a complex beer with flavorful hints of citrus, tropical fruit, and spice.
4. Beer: Breakfast Stout
Brewery: Founders Brewing Co. — Grand Rapids, MI
Breakfast Stout. It’s what’s for … you see where we’re going here. True to it’s name, this rich beer with flavors of coffee and chocolate is one you can crack open and enjoy any time of day.
5. Beer: Autumn Ale
Brewery: Breckenridge — Breckenridge, CO
Ease your way into colder weather with this warming Old Style Ale from one of Colorado’s finest breweries. Breckenridge’s Autumn Ale is toasty, nutty, and sweet.
6. Beer: Best Brown
Brewery: Bell’s — Kalamazoo, MI
A staple in the Bell’s (and our) fall lineup, Bell’s Best Brown is an easygoing ale. Not too heavy, not too light, this medium-bodied beer is a great way to wind down on a crisp, fall day.
7. Beer: Festbier
Brewery: Victory Brewing Co. — Downingtown, PA
Almost every brewery we can think of comes out with an Oktoberfest-inspired beer this time of year, but not all of them do it well. Victory Brewing Co’s Festbier is a different story. Full-bodied, malty, with a hint of hops — this is how we want to do Oktoberfest all fall long.
8. Beer: Longtable Farmhouse Ale
Brewery: New Belgium Brewing Co. — Fort Collins, CO
Have a seat with friends and family and share this traditional Saison/Farmhouse Ale by another favorite Colorado brewery. A little sweet, a little sour, this beer is one to pair with dinner during eating season … aka fall.
9. Beer: Flipside Red IPA
Brewery: Sierra Nevada — Chico, CA
In ashade of ruby red, this IPA by Sierra Nevada is a fall-time favorite (not just for the color). With a hoppy finish and citrusy hues, add Flipside to your autumn fridge rotation.
10. Beer: Oktoberfest
Brewery: Upland — Bloomington, IN
Another Indiana favorite, we get excited about Upland’s Oktoberfest every fall. This traditional Marzen-style lager embodies the spirit of Oktoberfest, right in the heart of the midwest.
